Starting July 1, the JSTOR AI Research Tool is included in Charles University’s subscription. Explore this AI-driven tool for interacting with JSTOR’s database content and register for a webinar to learn how to use it effectively.
The webinar will be held on July 24 at 7:00 PM.
It is an interactive AI tool that opens new possibilities of content exploration within the JSTOR database. It helps identify key ideas in articles, assesses the relevance of texts to your topic or related resources, and suggests related themes.
Access the database from the Electronic Resources Portal:
E-resources Portal (This ensures your account is correctly paired with the Charles University subscription)
(In the Availability section, click on any option for 'Charles University')
In the top right corner, select Register (if you don't have an account) / Log in (if you already have an account).
Search for the content you are interested in.
Next to/under the content (depending on screen size), the AI assistant window will appear.
Interact with the Research tool as you would with a chatbot - ask questions, have conversations.
You can always turn the Assistant on/off using the OFF/ON switch.

Related Content Feature Within the Research Tool, you'll find a “Show related content” button above the chat window. When selected, the tool links you to texts in the database relevant to the topic you're searching. |

Citation Generation The JSTOR Research Tool allows users to generate citations for specific responses or for the tool itself. Currently, citations are available in MLA, APA, or Chicago style. Below each response, there is a “Cite response” button, which opens a citation menu that can be copied. To cite the AI tool itself, click the three dots next to the chat input and select “Cite AI Research Tool.” |
|
Download PDF or HTML Transcript of Your Conversation You can now download a transcript of your conversation with the JSTOR Research Tool in PDF or HTML format. Click the three dots next to the chat input, and then choose “Download as PDF” or “Download as HTML.” |
|
Abstract vs. What Is This About The “Summarize” function has been renamed based on user feedback. If an abstract is available, the chat window will display a “Show abstract” option. If no abstract exists, users will see “What is this about?” instead — a feature that provides key points and a general summary of the content. |
