What's happening in AI at the university that you haven't seen yet?

Testing a Safe Environment for Playing with Generative AI:
AI Sandbox
What is it?
It's a chatbot similar to ChatGPT, but you can also choose from other models (e.g., Claude or Llama). You can switch between them, experiment to find out which one is better suited for different tasks, and you don't have to log in to different platforms each time.
The advantage of the AI Sandbox would also lie in the security of the data we input into the chatbot. The Sandbox has already been launched or tested at other universities (e.g., Harvard or the University of Copenhagen), and it would be great to have it at Charles University as well.
Currently, we are testing the platform's capabilities and limits and ensuring that the Sandbox handles our data safely and well.
What should we recommend to students for using AI?
Generative artificial intelligence can undoubtedly assist in writing student papers and coursework. But what is "allowed" at the university, and what crosses the line? How can I ethically use artificial intelligence in writing my thesis without upsetting my supervisor? How should I declare it?
These are the questions we are trying to answer in the Generative AI working group at Charles University. We would like to create a recommendation for students about using AI in their work and save them (and us) additional worry.
As you can see, there are many tasks related to artificial intelligence. We are very excited that our AI Team will soon be joined by a new colleague! We are currently preparing a job position for a new team member who will work at the Central Library, focusing primarily on the education and training of generative artificial intelligence.
